More than 700,0000 General Motors and Toyota vehicles have been recalled across North America due to defective bolts in the power-window system.
The recall also included a large number of Toyotas built in Cambridge, Ont.
About 50,000 Canadian and 539,500 U.S. owners of Corolla compact cars and Matrix crossovers, from the 2003-2004 model years, were notified by Toyota, regarding the need for free repairs.
Moreover, GM said it recalled 123,000 Pontiac Vibe models assembled via a joint venture with Toyota in California.
Close to 630,000 Noah and Voxy minivans, from the 2001-2007 model years, were also recalled by Toyota in Japan, to fix a flaw that could lead to cracks in fuel tanks.
A company spokesperson said the current problem originated with defective bolts from a supplier, adding that they have now been redesigned.
